A historic Renaissance estate where Mediterranean gardens, exotic plants and Dubrovnik’s aristocratic heritage meet above the sea.

Trsteno Arboretum is much more than a botanical garden. Created around the historic country estate of the Dubrovnik noble Gučetić-Gozze family, it brings together a Renaissance garden, later landscape additions, old olive groves, natural Mediterranean vegetation and a remarkable collection of cultivated plants.

The estate’s history reaches back more than five centuries, and the gardens reflect the long tradition of Dubrovnik families bringing plants, ideas and influences home from across the Mediterranean and beyond. Stone architecture, shaded paths and views towards the sea give Trsteno a sense of distance from the busy coast even though it lies directly on the route north-west of Dubrovnik.

For journeys between Dubrovnik, Ston and Split, the Arboretum can be a particularly elegant stop. Admission and opening conditions are independent of the transfer and should be checked in advance.
