Konavle is the rural landscape behind and south of Cavtat, where the character of the Dubrovnik region shifts from fortified city and coastline to fields, vineyards, cypress trees and traditional villages. Stone houses and old agricultural estates reflect a way of life shaped by both the fertile land and the long influence of the Dubrovnik Republic.

Čilipi is known for preserving local costume, embroidery and folklore traditions, while the wider region is associated with local wine, olive oil and rural cuisine. Around Ljuta, water and old mills add another layer to the landscape, while viewpoints higher above the valley reveal how closely the mountains, fields and Adriatic sit together.
