Primošten is instantly recognisable: a dense cluster of pale stone houses and red roofs rising from a small peninsula surrounded by blue water. Once separated from the mainland, the historic settlement is now connected by a causeway, but its old stone streets still retain the intimate scale of an island village.

A walk through the old town gradually climbs towards the Church of St George, while the waterfront promenade circles the peninsula with uninterrupted sea views. Beyond the town lies another important part of Primošten’s identity — the painstakingly cultivated stone landscape of the Bucavac vineyards, where generations of local families shaped tiny vineyard plots between dry-stone walls.

Primošten is compact enough to reward even a relatively short stop. It fits naturally into journeys between Split, Trogir, Šibenik and Zadar, offering travellers a chance to leave the main road and experience a classic Dalmatian coastal town at walking pace.
