Pag often looks as though it belongs to another landscape entirely. Large parts of the island are covered by pale limestone and low vegetation, creating an almost lunar scenery shaped by wind, sea and centuries of grazing. Against it stand small settlements, dry-stone walls, salt fields and the blue of the Adriatic.

The town of Pag adds a strong cultural identity to the island. Traditional Pag lace is internationally recognised, while salt production, sheep farming and the island’s famous cheese remain inseparable from local life and gastronomy.
