Plitvice Lakes are one of Croatia’s defining natural landscapes. Sixteen named lakes descend through dense forest, linked by countless waterfalls and cascades created by the continuous formation of tufa barriers. The Upper Lakes are broader and surrounded by wooded slopes, while the Lower Lakes cut into a steeper limestone canyon before the water continues towards the Korana River.

The experience is not centred on a single viewpoint. Wooden paths, walking trails, electric boats and panoramic transport connect different parts of the lake system, and the length of a visit varies considerably depending on the route chosen.

Because of the scale of the park, Plitvice should be planned as an extended stop rather than a brief diversion. Park admission is separate from the transfer, and current access, ticket availability and operating conditions should be confirmed directly with the National Park before travel.
