Why visit

A historic captain’s town on Pelješac, surrounded by vineyards, mountains and views across the channel to Korčula.

Orebić lies on the southern side of the Pelješac Peninsula, beneath the slopes of Mount St Ilija and directly across the channel from Korčula. Its identity was shaped by generations of sailors and sea captains whose houses and gardens still give the town a distinctive character.

The waterfront is relaxed and walkable, but the landscape around Orebić is just as important as the town itself. Vineyards climb across Pelješac, producing wines from the peninsula’s celebrated Plavac Mali grape, while paths above the town lead towards viewpoints over the channel and nearby islands. The Franciscan monastery and the Maritime Museum preserve another side of Orebić’s seafaring history.

For a road journey through Pelješac, Orebić feels like a natural final chapter: sea, wine, mountains and maritime heritage gathered into one small coastal town.
